- Marketing Development and Planning
This course is designed to expand your knowledge of current marketing practices and philosophies. The tutorial exercises and readings will contribute to the formulation of a marketing plan which will detail actionable marketing strategies given the limited resources of the firm with imperfect and incomplete information. The unit will also examine the effect of the wider business environment on business planning. Attention will also be paid to the development of business plans that address sustainability and the triple bottom line.

- Image Literacy
This unit is designed to equip students with the analytic techniques and critical approaches required to understand the regimes of truth and meaning appropriate to photographic and computer generated imagery. Students are asked to produce and read photographic computer generated objects such as family albums, picture postcard collections, composite productions and individual photographs taken during the unit.

- Media in Asia
The media is at the centre of many of the key political and cultural debates in Asia. This unit introduces some of these debates through a study of media institutions and media texts produced and consumed in Asia. The unit has a substantial empirical content, covering media policies and media markets, and exploring contemporary histories and the political economy of Asian media systems. This unit is highly recommended for all Media and Mass Communication students seeking to understand the rapidly changing media landscapes of some of Australia's Asian neighbours.

- Principles of Journalism
This unit introduces students to journalism basics: new values, interviewing skills, writing stories, news sources, etc. and allows them to practise these in a print environment. The unit will highlight the importance of general knowledge, news literacy and journalism ethics. By the end of semester, students should be able to identify newsworthy elements and apply this judgement through taking notes of a news event and then writing a fair and accurate print news story.

- Radio Presenting and Producing
This unit gives you the chance to prepare and produce a weekly one-hour live radio program on a local community radio. Although you will be individually assessed, you will be working as part of a two or three person production team. A five-week training period is followed by an eight-week broadcasting season during which you will be involved in radio presenting and producing, all in a real-life environment. This unit will help you extend your skills in audio production, oral communication, writing and radio broadcasting.
